It has been recently announced that Japan’s GDP has gone down 7.8% in April – June from the previous quarter, or 27.8% from an annualized point of view.
This is the biggest decline since these figures started being available in 1980, and it is a bit bigger than the analysts had predicted.
This was also due to exports having fallen drastically, but one of the main reasons was the sharp decrease in domestic consumption.
All countries around the world have announced similar numbers, and even in places where lockdown wasn’t in effect, people avoided going out, therefore consuming less.
However, the Japanese health care system is not overwhelmed, and with the stimulus packages announced by the government, analysts expect the GDP to bounce back in the third quarter and keep getting better through to next year.
